*Update: March 24*

The coronavirus is affecting countries all over the world, including the shipping of products and freight. In this article, we will gather all the information you need to know about the effects of the corona on Poromagia and our shipments.

International shipments

DHL normally delivers shipments as usual with the exception of Wuhan, China, and Iran. For more information on DHL's measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, read the newsletter published by DHL.

We recommend using DHL Express's On-Demand Delivery Service (ODD), which allows the recipient to choose between pick-up point, parcel terminal or leaving the shipment behind the door with the recipient's permission. Therefore, it is now very important that the shipment contains not only the address information and the name of the recipient but also a phone number.

You can make the preferred changes in On-Demand Delivery Service (ODD) from an email link automatically sent by DHL.

Poromagia store and warehouse

Our brick and mortar store in Pasila is open during normal business hours (Mon & Tue 13-20, Wed-Fri 13-19, Sat 10-17, Sun 12-16) and the webstore is open 24/7. Orders are collected and shipped every weekday by our webstore's Poro Crew. Our staff washes their hands frequently and disinfects the workstations in order to minimize the risk of infections. We hope that you will not visit our store while feeling under the weather, as Poro Staff will stay home even if the slightest symptoms are noticed.

Finnish Post

Domestic deliveries in Finland are delivered as usual without any delays. Some of the Posti's parcel terminals and service points have been closed for the time being because their location properties are closed due to coronavirus. Check out the full list of parcel terminals and service points in the newsletter published by the Posti.

General information about the virus and the Finnish Post's policies

Package and letter shipments remain secure (Source: THL (Finnish institute for health and welfare))

“The new coronavirus is primarily transmitted by drop and contact infection when a person coughs or sneezes. According to current knowledge, the contribution of surfaces to the spread of the virus is not significant. Coronaviruses are structured in such a way that they do not remain infectious on surfaces for long periods, especially at varying temperatures. "

Mail and our webstore are not affected by this situation, so online purchases are delivered normally (including letters and door-to-door delivery). The following changes have been made to Posti's postal delivery and check-in shipments:

  • Unlike the usual way, the item is not handed over to the recipient, but the courier rings the doorbell and puts the item in front of the door. The courier will wait a few meters away as the customer receives the shipment.
  • In addition, Posti does not ask the recipient for a signature, but the delivery is recorded by the courier in the Post system.
  • If there is a prepayment for home delivery, the post will be redirected to the Posti's service point for pick up.
  • Traditional letter mail and newspapers are delivered normally.
